First Markham Place is a unique diverse complex which boasts 180 retails stores including 22 sit down restaurants and 24 food court outlets situated in a spacious bright court surrounded by #7 just east of Woodbine Avenue (exit 27 off Highway 404) and west of Warden Avenue, in the Town of Markham.
First Markham Place is one of the first shopping centres to successfully integrate east and west in one complex. The spacious Promotion/Food-court with over 24 food alternatives to suit your taste, is augmented by 22 restaurants (including a banquet hall) with sit down gourmet dinning, serving a large variety of Asian cuisines.
First Markham Place has become an integral part of the community, hosting and supporting many community organizations. First Markham Place has traditionally staged the largest Countdown Show during the Chinese New Year, drawing attendees from throughout and beyond York Region and the Greater Toronto Area.
First Markham Place recognizes all ages and every summer the mall hosts an event inviting more than 1,500 Senior's to participate in a fun filled day of games entertainment, lunch and shopping. The event has become so popular that Seniors from as far away as London and Ottawa have chartered buses and confirmed their attendance early.
The Moon Festival /Fall Extravaganza is First Markham Place's Signature event that grows every year. The event begins outside in the parking lot around 7:00 pm with a band, feature performers and well-known DJ's. The outdoor show comes to a dramatic climax at 9:30 pm with a fabulous fireworks display and the show moves in-doors with additional performances and more.
It is with great pride that the mall boasts of their large Tai Chi classes, with more than 300 registered members, many coming from the Greater Toronto Area. Every Sunday morning there are Tai Chi classes open to all adults for a nominal fee, taught by a recognized geomancer (Feng Shui). Weekday Classes are held every morning Monday to Friday with members paying dues to participate; the funds, after expenses are donated to local charities. Every Thursday and Sunday evening, children from the area and within the GTA are taught the art of Wu Shu / Kung Fu by an Olympic hopeful.
